I was thinking of buying a 1927 and was checking into the wood as it needed it all. The quote I got for a complete kit was $3200 plus 12 to 14% for shipping East of the Mississippi or out West.
If you have wood that is good enough for patterns then you should be fine. $3200 is a lot of wood but I also understand there was a lot of work to make them like originals.
You have probably already checked around and know more than I do about the cabs but just as info I understand that most folks go with a solid piece in the cab "back" or something to that effect.
I've also read where a couple places on the door pillars that someone used metal.
Keep us posted on your progress. I know that is a very interesting project.
