just want to say hello and say this site is awesome. i've been reading for a short time and got to say there is a lot of interesting information. i have always wanted an old truck and wound up buying a 54 chevy 3100 5 window that i'm just starting to work on, it's my first stovebolt and can't wait to get it on the road. the truck has some issues and will start with the rust problems first. it has a good running 235. i'm just finishing up on a 40 chevy special deluxe 4dr, complete restoration, so i have to to take my time, i'm retired and you know how it it (monies tight). thanks again for a great site and i'll be asking plenty of questions. God Bless

Hi rude1,welcome from Scotland.
Assuming your '54 spent the bulk of it's 50+ years in So-Cal,the rust shouldn't be too horrific!
There's plenty of repair panels available should you need them.
I'll wager a bet it needs 'treatment' to the lower cab corners, and the right hand floor pan at the battery opening.
(Don't ask how I know!)

You're obviously no stranger to restoration, it's exactly the same as your 40,just bigger!
Just ask away in the relevant sections and the advice will be forthcoming.

Pics would be nice too.

See you around the 'bolt.
Good luck

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
