Paul’s 1949 half ton .
This all began over twenty years ago while visiting our daughter in Colorado.
I volunteered to help her husband install a furnace and air conditioner in a customers home.
The truck was taken as partial payment for the furnace job.
The old girl sat for a couple years before they decided they weren‘t going to restore her.
I had a double barrel shot gun my daughter liked and I liked the old truck, so for a days work and a double barrel shot gun I got me a STOVE BOLT.
Before Now what? It’s 1500 miles from my house to hers, no problem I’ll just hook a car trailer up to my 84 GMC and drive out and bring her back. That might have been okay except I didn’t take into consideration that my GMC was not quite powerful enough for the job. The trouble is I didn’t find this out till fifty miles east of Denver on the way home. That’s when the GMC boiled over and I had to get my son in law to drag the old truck back to his place. Yes I towed the trailer out and back empty.
Two years later with a tow bar and a borrowed three quarter ton truck I finally got the old girl home.
I didn’t do anything to the truck for several years except drive it occasionally.
About four years ago I decided to do a frame off restoration. Boy I’ll give that a little more thought next time.
I installed a 235 engine from a 1956 Chevrolet ,changed over to twelve volt ,installed led tail lights.
I did the work myself except the wiring and pin striping.
