Hi Everyone, My name is Daniel Leonard from Modesto, CA.. Now for the truck, I guess it was my son’s fault. He needed a dump truck and found a 1953 Chevy 6500 on Craig’s List. Well, I have a truck to pull his trailer and off we went to pick it up. It had to come to my house, of course, but it turned out that my wife really, really liked the truck. Therefore I have no doghouse stories.
We started to look around for our own truck and found it through Craig’s List in Los Angeles, CA. area. We found out it was also listed on Stovebolt. Well off we go again but this time for a 350 mile drive to pick it up, put it on the trailer and then drive it home, all in one day. I am getting too old to be doing that kind of thing.
From what I found out, the truck started life in CO. then moved with it owner to Racine,WI.. It was used to take antique tractors to shows. At some point he had to move to CA. with his son and loaded all his things on it and drove it to the border of California, but made his son drive it through CA. The dad passed the truck on to his son and we acquired it from the son. Maybe some of you have seen it before because the son said it won best of show for an unrestored truck, at some point.
The long-term plans we have for the truck are to build a housetruck for when I retire. I have had RV’s for over 20 years now and this one would just have more class than anything else out there.
I put some Pics on Photobucket. I already had to remove the rotten flatbed and on we go...

Nice looking truck!!
Welcome to Stovebolt!
It's cool that father and son each have their own truck. Is he a member here? We'd love to see pictures of his, too!

I go over to his house and try to get some pics. His 1953 Chevy 6500 dump truck came with the bad paint, rust, moss, and things growing on it. Funny though my wife still likes that truck better, she says it looks more manly and rustic. Well I guess that is good for me too because my paint job is going bad and I have things growing on me. Oh well, she keeps me around just not outside.

Nice truck thumbs_up and that's one heck of a heavy duty trailer!

Welcome to the Stovebolt

Nifty truck. Am working on your Gallery page. You need to get your son to add his truck in here also! (Have him remind me, too ... so I can link them together). In the meantime, do you have a link to his dump truck?

Thanks,
Peggy
