ok,,, what's the best way to humanely get snakes out of my truck? It only sat since last fall. Yes,, only grass snakes or corn snakes, but still.....takes the fun out of it all. Especially when I have a huge fear of them

I'm not sure, but have you considered smoking them out, not necessarily anything toxic, but critters will usually back away from most smoke.

That's how I got the mice out my garage.
I didn't even realise they were there 'til I started the truck on full choke one day.
They soon got out!
Come to think of it.... so did I!(Fumes!)

Better still, once you get rid of them is it possible to stop them getting in in the first place?

I would try to smoke them out or something. call a pet store or google it and find out what snakes don't like to drive them out. just put on thick gloves and grap them.

I've never tried it myself, but I've heard they are repelled by mothballs. Something about the smell of napthalene I think.

Cory is right.....mothballs...they hate the smell too. Spread them around everywhere you can safely get to, heavier the better in my book. Not scared of them per se, just unnerving as heck when they fall out on your foot. That experience woke me up!

My cousin told me a story about a couple of old Dodge pickups a friend of his bought. My cousin was a veitnam vet so he had seen a few snakes before other than your common garter snake however when he was riding in the towed vehicle which he had to keep the his foot on the clutch pedal, he discovered he wasn't alone. He first saw one slither across the dash,,, then noticed one on the seat,, then a few more on the floor. Needless to say he took his foot off the clutch which forced the towing vehicle to slow down at which time he "bailed" out of the Dodge. Seems that particular make had a glove box under the seat. The glove box was a perfect place for them to hibernate. Gives me chills just thinking about it!

I'm going to assume you want to get rid of them quick, or kill them, right? Brake Cleaner will do it. I've used brake cleaner to kill wasps, drive out wasp nests, kill dirt dobbers (shoot them right of the air), kill roaches and kill grass snakes. It takes a few minutes, but it will do it. Just keep shooting it out of the can at them. They don't like it at all. Neither do rats or possums. I buy it by the case. It won't hurt your truck, evaporates pretty fast and the smell is gone in several minutes. I use CRC brand in the RED can - get the RED, not the green. Less then $4.00 a can.

they are harmeless just pin them and grab it behind the head and remove it. if you feel it is harmful then rent a snake charmer.

I would use Mothballs ...lotts of em !..an prop the doors open a inch..the slitherin critters will vacate in no time.

OK - sorry for the "murdering" of the snakes!
The best ways to get them out have been mentioned. First, remove them by hand (I couldn't do that) and the moth balls, which will not murder them, but will probably make them mad. I wouldn't stand around and watch!

There is a product called snake away. I have seen it at ACE or Lowe's and heard good reviews. I think it might prevent them getting back in. I would think enough smoke will run almost anything out.

years ago we had a cellar that we used in tornado season my granddad would go out there every year and burn sulphur in it to get rid of the snakes that showed up during the off uses Hope that helps. Thanks Jesse

after thinking about it you might want to keep the snake. as of now you dont have a "i hate those mices to pieces problem". [censored] all over the thing, ripping up the headliner or seat material for a nest or chewing on you wiring. a snake does none of this.

Try calling a Scoutmaster... surely there's a Boy Scout in your area that will be glad to have them as pets. I should know, I still love the slithery things... but would not hesitate to kill a poisonous one.

Mothball or Sulfur powder (any feed or garden center). The sulfur powder I use is Rattle Snake brand. Good to spread here and there in the garage or around the garage to keep them out.

Most critters do not like loud low frequency noisy. Makes them think they are going to be stepped on by bigger critters. Speakers and some good rap tunes might do the trick.It sounds awful but no smell.

I find this works on skunks, mice, and inlaws also. Know what I mean.

A broom handle with a hook attached to the end. hook em and drag them out. Just be ready to jerk and fling when you get them hooked because they will get away from you fast.

And as it was mentioned before, a snake is the best cat you can ever have. Never whines for food and snake poop doesn't smell!
