Hey guys quick question. Do all the 47 to 53 chevys use the same spindles and what ones interchange thanks

Within size ranges they use the same spindles.

King pins from 1/2 to to 2 ton are the same, for information.

Ok I am learning. If its the same king pin then 1/2 ton spindles would fit a 2 ton suspension? I am looking at converting the 2 ton to 1/2 ton front end, so I am trying to find differences in the 2ton to 1/2 ton.

There were 3 different axles and therefor 3 different king pins during these years. 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton to 1 1/2 ton and 2 ton. Axle tread width is different as well.

In addition to load handling ability, the Ackerman angle is different for any track width and wheelbase configuration. Rule of thumb is: lines drawn through the center of the kingpins and the tie rod connections should converge where the vehicle centerline intersects the rear axles.

Even minor changes in front end design geometry will increase steering effort and compromise tire life.

According to Rare parts they tell me king pins are the same from 1/2 to 2 ton.
Spindles would not be the same, most l9ikely each had its own spindle

Then Rare Parts is wrong, because there are 3 different size king pins for the different size models of trucks being made.

to expand on his queston alittle reguarding spindles i recently got a 50 chevy front axle complete axle itself is an exact match from every messurment i can check for my 39 spindles i will assume are different but i have a disk brake kit for my 39 is there a way i can use the spindles from the 39 on the front axle of the 50 "axle tie rods ect.. are chrome on the 50"

Dan the 39 & 50 spindles/axles use different king pins, so unless you modify something it won't work. Have you tried just bolting the 39 kit on the 50 axle to see it'll bolt on?? You may just have to modify the bolt holes & use different bolts to make it work..joe

yeah i tried to see if the kit would bolt on but it didn't appear the bolt holes lined up and if thats different i am guessing the spindle taper that the new bearings will have to fit would be different also guess i will just have to buy another kit for a 50 and be stuck with a 39 kit i can't use lol such is life
