I know that these old transmissions tend to make a lot of noise but this is something new. It's making a moaning noise when I decelerate. It stops if I push in the clutch. I have checked the fulid level and everything else seems to be working perfectly.
Is this the trans or maybe the U-joint. I'm not sure what a bad U-joint sounds like. What should I check? Is this going to damage the trans?

p.s. This trans has been rebuilt, new bearings and every thing. All the gears looked good when I put it back together. | | |

If it does it in high gear I would take a look at the rear end.

Hopefully it's not a bad bearing. I would hate to rebuild that thing again.

How did the countershaft look? The shaft acts as the "inner race" and excessive clearance could do it. Did you replace all the pins?
