For what I see the band is for emergency stopping. How do you use the brake if you are on an incline, parked etc, etc..
I may be wrong on this since this truck is new (first truck) and I am not familar if all things. I do have the repair manual!

| | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | any parking brake can be used as an "emergency" brake [misnomer], but that's a "misuse", and hopefully never required .... the drive line parking brake on bigger trucks is used the same as any [the rear wheels can't turn if the driveshaft can't move], put it in 1st or R when parking for added safety

I for some reason thought that the parking brake was for emergency purposes.
I was looking for some kind of cable that when to the drums but could not find them.

One of the trickest looking things I've ever seen. The owner told me he could bring the rig to a smooth stop using nothing but the parking brake. It looked way cool spinning down there under the car while it was moving. Not a very good thing for rough roads I would imagine though. | | |
