For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 111 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 111 | This is similar to the 38 tag question earlier. Where or how exactly does the ID tag go on a 46 Chevy 1/2 ton truck? It appears to go on the passenger side cowl around the corner from the firewall in front of the cowl to hood seal but does it go horizontal or vertical and facing forward?? There are multiple holes in the area and none seem to fit correctly. Did they use screws or rivets in opposite corners only or in all four corners? Thanks!!!!

The factory plate had the body number which told the story, which plant, etc etc. Also the larger of the two plates I've mounted verticle, just because it fits the holes. The screws are tiny 'clutch head', and I've only seen these screws on the id plates. I can shoot a photo if you want, but you may get a responce from others with more correct info on what the originals looked like. Can't say for 100% its in the factory location, but I believe it is. Mine is also attached with clutch head screws. VIN attach | | |
