I don't Think so, I spent a good hour hamming away with a 2lb. hammer and NO LUCK! The uppers popped loose pretty easy. I'm trying not to use a Pickle Fork because the ball joints are fine and I don't want to spend $189 ea. to replace them (by tearing up the boots) - just trying to put on my new spindles. DOES ANYBODY HAVE A GOOD METHOD OF GETTING THE LOWER BALL JOINT TO BREAK LOOSE? (LOWER BALL JOINT) Great news, but when I put on the new spindle and started tightening the nut - the ball joint stud rotates with the nut... Does this mean the ball joints Broken, or do I need to compress the spindle on the shaft a bit first? Not really a Ball joint Guy, I don't know exactly what kind of motion is OK. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | You can use a large pair of Channel Lock pliers to apply pressure to the spindle and balljoint housing. get the nut started and run down as far as possible. I would advise using an impact to get it run down quicker, just don't hammer on it too hard, do the final tightening with a torque wrench.
