Well, first off.

Hi everybody! I'm Dan and I just registered. I have a 1967 Chevy C10 "shortstep".

My motor is a 250ci with a TH350 transmission.

Anyway, down to the truck talk.

So, I just installed this automatic transmission I got out of the junkyard. It works great, no odd shifting or anything like that. My only problem is finshing the job. I'm looking at finshing the kickdown setup.

My only obstacle in doing so (at this point) is finding the correct bracket. Could any of you recommend certain vehicles in which I might find this bracket (I do most of my shopping at the junkyard)?

The head is non-integrated, which I believe changes how this bracket would mount. Is there a private vendor that sales these new?

MODERATORS: I tried avoiding the use of actual buying and selling words, but if this belongs in the "Swap Meet" section. Well, my bad on that. Doesn't matter to me where you put this so long as I get my bracket!!!!

I didn't think that the TH350 used a kickdown cable, they use a vacuum modulator for that purpose. Are you sure that you have a TH350, it may actually be a 700r4, they have a kickdown cable on them. Either way, I would suggest that you try Jeg's or Summit, or possibly Lokar. They should be able to get the part you need as far as cables are concerned, you may have to fabricate the braket if one is not available.

TH350's have a "kickdown" (detent) cable. I've never had one behind a 6cyl so I don't know how the bracket mounts on them, but I've fabricated several out of old brackets for v-8's. One time I found a universal, chrome, adjustable throttle/kickdown bracket at Champion Auto. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Automatics behind inline sixes are common in Novas, but not so much in pickup trucks. The Saginaw 3 speed didn't do anything special for me, so I thought I might as well put in a TH350.

I've heard that very few Chevy vans had autos with an inlien 6 and that the bracket kind of wraps around the intake manifold.

I'll go ahead and try Jegs or Summit (thanks for the recommendations!).

As for building a custom bracket... it wouldn't be the first time (power steering).

The 350 used a cable for downshift only. They would have been installed on all T350's no matter what the engine. I have a few brackets off 250 engines for the kick down cables. Mostly later model stuff. I will send you a picture of one so you know what they look like. I have been running a 250 with t350 for a few years with the cable hooked up. They work just fine with out them, you can manual down shift. The internal pressures are not effected by the cable unlike a T400 which must have a down shift switch. Joe

If you could hook me up with a picture I'd really appreciate it. My only concern is whether or not it is from an integral head model. I don't know this for sure, but I believe it changes how the bracket mounts to the intake. But I was looking at a '76 Pontiac engine. Dunno how diff they are from a Chevy inline. There's only one junkyard aorund here and "the pickins are really gettin' slim".
