I have the H052 rear end and a 292 engine.
I just bought the truck and on the drive home I was doing 60 mph no problem.
I have read take they do no more than 50-55 mph. I would recommend installing an overdrive in it. It will make a much better truck out of it as it will get better mileage and the engine will last longer.

Tire width is 10.4 inches. Tire height is 31.6 inches. Results Table Speed RPM 10 mph 485 20 mph 970 30 mph 1455 40 mph 1941 50 mph 2426 60 mph 2911 70 mph 3396 80 mph 3881 90 mph 4366 100 mph 4852 If your motor is in reasonable condition it should turn toward 4,000 RPM safely so your top speed is more than 80 mph. Assuming it has a point type ignition I would not be surprised if old points start floating around 4500 limiting your top speed. I don't know the 292 well enough to speculate on its other limitations. RPM at Speed

The stock 4-speed transmission in a '64 is an SM420, not an SM465. Both however have the same final ratio, which is 1:1.

At 65 mph I'm doing about 3300 rpm. Even with a 10' overhead camper I was able to push 65 and better, only passing of course.
tyler h, the final drive for the sm465 is 1:1, and any other transmission, if you don't count the over drive as "final drive". I don't remember what the over drive is for a 700R4, but in general they very from 20-30%, or 1:1.2-1.3.

So, I should feel comfortable traveling down the Highway at 60-65mph. I just do not want engine trouble. If I have to go easy I will, till I get more funds and do some mods.
