I bought an old speaker grille set and Im going to sandblast it down so i can repaint it. Id like to go with a dull silver textured finish. Does anybody know what kind of spray paint i might try? Is the scheme two-toned? I cant tell. Thanks, Kevin

The strips are stainless on the top and bottom usually. During the Korean war years late 51-53 you find them painted. A good enamel should do the trick on paint. If they are ss you might try polishing them.

Does anybody know the specific paint color/code for the speaker grill? Kind of like the color codes are known for the exteriors... Thanks, kevin

The speaker grill and glove box are painted the same color as the entire cab interior, i.e. PPG DBU/DBI #27467, the raised portions of the grill are a lighter more silver gray color. There are no numbers for that paint, you will have to wing it from here. I would shoot a sample panel with the base color and then try for a complementery color at the Duplicolor rack.
This is a well worn, but original glove box out of a '50 AD, is can be confusing which are the hills and which are the valleys, but trust me, the raised bars are the lighter color. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/123004215/original Of course colors from the camera to the computer to the screen are not accutate but it does show the contrast.
Here’s an ashtray grill I was playing around with. The colors were just Duplicolor rattle cans, not that they were correct, I was simply experimenting mind you.

As usual, nice pictures of your experiment. Which Duplicolor color or code did you use for the raised portions that are the lighter gray? Given the inaccuracy of color matching through electronic means, I think you are close. Also, what kind of tape did you use to mask off the raised portions?

Kan't help ya out there Kent, I was playing around with that several years ago and really don't remember what I was using, just kind of experimenting with different ideas, sorry.
