Would anyone happen to know the dimensions of the bottom seat without the padding/cover? After looking at a few pictures, I am starting to think the bottom I have isn't original. I haven't received my seat cover kit so I can't test it yet.

At the midpoint it is about 51" across. It is about 17.5" deep on the longer side and 16.5" on the shorter side. It sits about 4.5" tall.

The seat came out of what I think was 52/53 parts truck. Given the state of the truck, it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't original.

My bottom looks somewhat similar, but it doesn't have those bars on the bottom underneath each row of coils.

It looks different to my 50 seat base.
Was there a metal 'perimeter' round the bottom?
I'll take some pics and sizes today for you to compare.

I hope chevnky doesn't mind me using his picture but there's a really good shot of how they look in his last post.

The early 1947-1949 seats are not as wide as the later versions in 1950 they advertised the new wider seating surface. It is easy to tell if the seat is original (1947-1955 1st) it should have two triangular clips on the front bottom edge that clips into the seat frame to hold it in place.
