Well I'm new here and don't know how angry y'all get about non stock type vehicles , so I didn't really wanna say too much cause the only thing Chevy left on this vehicle is the cab!

Also I didn't really wanna say the year cause my title says 1944...now I've been told "NO SUCH THING". I did some research and found that there were a few '44's made for "special" customers, mostly farm use as well as war vehicles, so I'm guessing if the titles telling the truth it was one of those. So that's another reason I didn't wanna say up front cause if it's a "true" '44 then its a shame (for some, not me!) that it's in the configuration it is today!

In short it's a full custom made tube chassis , much like a sprint style racer...heavily Z'ed up in the rear, '88 SBC 305. Rolls on '61 Ford f100 straight axle and rear. Chrome reverse wheels.... etc.. It's fenderless and low...modern rat rod/hot rod pickup I'd say.

I recently purchased it running but unfinished from the builder who lives in Iowa and has built over 30 of these type vehicles. Had been looking for a while , saw a good deal and jumped rather impulsively and was happy when I got my first "in person" look at it when it rolled off the carrier.

Now for pics..I'll have to do some research here (newbie) on posting pics or if someone here gives me the "skinny" on how it would save me the trouble.

BWG.... I'm not sure I know the definition for "traditional" guy. I doubt that me or a lot of others fit that exact style.

I can only speak for myself so here goes. To chop up a good, original specimen of ANY vehicle would be a sin. There are lots of "parts" trucks out there, to save from the crusher, to cut and do as you please. That would be a good thing.

So, somewhere in between is where I fit. I can't afford to buy the show boats and have to buy them, drag them home and resurrect them!! In so doing we use what we have available and what we can buy, bargain,swap,trade and get it on the road.

In the end its YOUR vehicle and your entitled to do as you please or see fit to suit your own taste. Just PLEASE don't destroy a nice original.

Good luck on your project and if we can help let us know. After all don't we do it just for the sheer joy, satifaction and sense of accomplishing something?! Sure we do...and love every minute of it.

Thanks Bolter..top is getting a chop in the next few weeks..I've added a pic titled Photochop that I am using as a guide for the modification. Some guys don't like chop top cars/ trucks but I think they look way cooler.
