A little confused...I ordered these items from Jim Carter for my 1946 1/2 ton:
1. bed strip bolt mounting sets
2. bed to frame bolt kit.
The bed strip bolt mounting kit is out of stock.

So, I checked out Chevs of the 40s and found these bolt kits:
1. BEDWOOD & BEDMOUNT, STEEL (ZINC PLATED). 1/2 TON 458394
2. COMPLETE TRUCK BED UPGRADE ONLY. BOLT KIT (BED TO FRAME) STEEL 1/2T 3690601

Am I correct to assume these kits from each vendor are the same? And between these 2 kits I will have ALL the necessary bolts to assemble my bed AND mount it with the blocks and pads I have already purchased from JC? Bad idea to mix sets from different vendors?

Most are pretty vague about what is in their kits so you don't go out and buy them at the local hardware store. I say you have a 50/50 chance of getting what you need. There are differences out there for example one vendor for my 3600 bed said there are only 2 rubber pads for the bed blocks I knew this to be incorrect and provided the information on what was required back to them with the result being the factory and I were incorrect and they were right. Final result I took my business elsewhere.

If you decide to buy hardware from a hardware store and you want stainless, just buy the stainless carriage bolts. It makes no difference what is on the bottom, no one sees them. Much cheaper too.
There are varying qualities of stainless and I found the best to be at a marine supply store.

Vague is right. I can see it now, a set from each could cause trouble.
Thanks for the info guys, I'll have a look around town. Without a complete list I'll grab what I know I'll need and make a return trip for anything I end up missing.

You Guys are my dream come true- I bought a 46 1 1/2 ton and am restoring it in the Process the body / paint guy took the bed off and LOST all the parts .. I need to get my hand on a schematic drawing to remount the bed to the frame. Where can I get this and the kit you mentioned or just the right hardware , spacers ect?? help

they advertise and have links on the site and are pretty helpful. I have stuff for the AD beds but not for the Art-Deco but they do.

Mar-k will have what you need. He buys from the same vendor as I do. But, I don't have any kits on my website yet. He will get you what you need. Just return what you got from jim. or you can wait and give him a call and see when the other kit will be in stock.
