It's advertised as 9 1/8 inch. My plan is to detach the driveline tube, jack it up, remove the 4-speed. and then remove/replace the clutch kit. I'm planning on removing and inspecting or resurfacing the flywheel too. Does all this sound about right? Any feedback on this NAPA clutch kit (#NNCM410421)? | | |

There are variations in sizes. The kit generally comes with new pilot bushing & TO brg.

It says that the 2 guide pins support the transmission to avoid damage to the clutch disk. Will studs work the same as guide pins? How heavy is a 4-speed transmission in a '49 3600? | | |

Those 4 speeds are HEAVY! Since you have the tranny and motor separate, now is a great time to have that flywheel resurfaced.

Since I will be going to all this effort I will for sure have the flywheel resurfaced and replace many clutch-related items. Unless the rear-main seal looks like new I'll replace that too. What about transmission seals? Should I be looking into replacing any while I have this heavy puppy out? | | |
