If any one is looking for a welder,lincoln has one on sale for 500.00 Its called an easy-mig 140,uses120 volt input,is set up for gasless flux cored or gas shielded.After going on line and looking into this model,it seems to be really cheap.I'm thinking this would be a good beginners welder for some one like me who has never done it before.What do you boys think.To the moderators,was'nt sure if i should put this in greasy or general topics.

that's the model I've got [CDN tire a few years ago] - excellent machine - get the gas gear .... a bodyman buddy sez he likes it better than the different make he uses all day, and make sure I put him in my will

This is the welder I have and like it. I have it set up with gas. It is easy to learn to use.

As others have said get the gas gear. It's the only way to go for body work. I have two Lincolns, a SP-100 and a SP-170. Both of them are over ten years old and perform nicely. I worked for a sheetmetal outfit and we used Lincoln SP-125s to weld the seams on 4- 5Ft diameter 10 Ga. S/S exhaust stacks that went up 365Ft, plus all the 10 inch 16Ga. S/S lab pipe that fed them. Several miles of weld. The lincolns worked flawlessly.

Yes the Lincolns do the job,at least for a while.But for a few dollars more you can buy a Miller.Big difference is that Miller uses a copper wound transformer,whereas Lincoln uses alluminum.
