However it looks like the wires go into the switch and are not attached to the outside. Is this correct? The two wires merely push, just like a bullet connector. There might be a little hair pin clip on each little push-on that helps hold it to the switch.
Look at a picture of the switch in Jim Carter or Chev's catalog and you'll see what it looks like sans wires.

Then use electrolit grease. This will keep out moisture. You can use this at all points of contacts.
