Towns in Nevada are far apart, 55 MPH will not cut it.
Engine is a strong 350.
Still want to haul and tow, may want to keep a granny low if possible.
But I have to get a taller final drive.
Prefer not to change the rear axle, trans seems like it may be easier and less expensive.
I will replace the mechanical trans brake with a line-lok.
Current trans works and shifts very well, just too low in fourth gear.

This transmission is easily adaptable to work with the stock clutch linkage and a mechanical speedometer, and is strong enough to take anything you can throw at it. 5th gear would affectively give you a final drive of 3.34:1 instead of 4.57:1. Do a search on this site for the NV4500, there is lots of info on the swap. If you are still confused... pm me. I put one of these in my 1959 gmc 1/2 ton longbed behind a well built pontiac v8. this swap will move the shifter back 6 inches compared with the stock 4 speed.
