I am now on a full blown mission to put my truck back stock. I had already filled the filler hole in the side of the cab when I had the revelation that stock is cool. So what to do? I put the hole back. Thank goodness that was the worse of what I had done before hand. Anyway, I don't recommend doing it but here are the photos. http://rides.webshots.com/album/563027192ItmeAM?start=144

Not bad! I'm 23 building a truck, I bought the truck when I was 18 or 19 years old. Lets just say my ideas were very different when I was 19 years old. I wanted everything shaved and chopped, thank god at the time I was too poor to actually follow through with anything. I love stock trucks, they have character. At times I wish I went with a 235ci I6 rather than my 350V8 and TH350 trans oh well what's done is done. But like you I have learned a stock body is the way to go.

well fellas, i'm starting my build on my 50'(soon anyway)my plan is to stay as stock as possible, maybe some minor mods like a shaved filler hole only cuz i'm going with a rear mount tank.dont get me wrong, i think chopped and shaved is pretty rad, i just happen to like subtle mods that are as stock as possible. stock modified(if thats even a term)is like flames, they will never go out of style!!!!

I've been waiting for an opportunity to share this.

To you roders, I love you like a brother, and all I want is for you to get better, but what you all are doing to these trucks is an abomination and it needs to stop. Us stock guys are here to help.

grin

I resemble that remark. My philosophy is it's your truck, do what you want with it. When you are done you may or may not be able to get rid of it if you want to so it's still your truck.

I really don't care if someone wants to rod a good truck it is there money and time. I just want mine to be a 1952 Chevy truck. I spent Saturday a few weeks ago talking to some guys in the walmart parking lot. There were two Advanced Design and one 66 Trucks there. All of the trucks had V8's and automatic transmissions and their owners were all very happy with there trucks. I am seeing fewer and fewer stock trucks on the road and figure that it would be nice to have one. I had a guy the other day get almost mad at me because I didn't want to put the disk brake kit on the front. I know the upgrades will make the truck easier to drive but I don't want to run the interstate with it. I just want a cool OLD truck. The other problem is I would like to be able to buy parts with out having to remember what vehicle that part of the truck came from.

Love it Brad, and ain't it nice we all have access to a site for everybody. I love seeing what the street rod folks have done to their trucks. I just don't want to own one.

Well I'm a rodder and I don't own anything stock, but I respect anybody that took the time and money to put a car or truck together. I do all my own work and I know what it takes to build someone stock or not. I like pushing my talents and imagination to come up with something slick yet subtle believe or not that hard. I don't post much here because I always took it as a basically stock site and people may not like what I do, but I do come around to look at you guys projects. Anyway good luck with all your projects. Remember it takes all kind to make the world go round.

I would love to have a full-blown, over-the-top modified custom 52 Chevy AND my stock 55.2 NAPCO sitting next to it! I think I would still like the stock truck more as it is more humble and simple.

I went to a car show Saturday. There were lots of other than stock trucks there. Not one even close to stock to be seen. Still I admire the amount of work and thought that went into each truck. I saw a nice 37' with a Nissan 4 cylinder in it. That had to take some serious figuring.

The only things I am doing to my truck is to make it drive better and stop better than the org. All the out side and inside will look stock except a few creature comforts. AC,PS., Tilt wheel, newer radio. other than that its almost stock looking.
