Hey All,
Just got off the phone with Grundy Insurance,trying to insure my '53/6100,they told me that my truck, and all trucks, "have to be restored and in show condition".That kinda blows my truck out of the insurance pool because,it will never be "restored and in show condition",it has a '56 motor ,new wiring, and a steel flatbed.I guess I'll be looking somewhere else and not ever using them.
Just thought I'd let you know how they are.
Now that I'm done ranting, how does everyone else feel about they're insurance carriers? :mad:
EDIT: I almost forgot they also said the minimum agreed value had to be 10 grand.

these days I insure all my vehicles through USAA. A couple years ago they wouldn't insure my motorhome but had a partnership program going with Progressive. If you plan to actually use your truck for anything other than a hobby talk to your regular insurance agent or company.

My agent wanted $75 a month, not bad, but if I'm not driving it all of the time and I can get it for a couple hundred a year.
I'm CHEAP and unemployed,so less is much gooder.

Plenty of good info has already been posted here. Someone starts a new post about once a month. Do a search and read the tech tip.

Got with John at Hagerty and got the ball rolling,we'll see how it goes with them.

Yeah I probably should have done a search,but I was so lit about them I could'nt wait to vent.
Now I feel better.

I have used Hagerty for six years and have been pleased. They allowed me to insure my trucks while I was restoring them (at an agreed upon price, after I sent them photos). As I moved along in the restoration, I increased the insured value.

However, once my 2-ton COE with flatbed is restored, I will be looking for another insurer because Hagerty will not let me use the COE to carry one of my other trucks to a truck show.

I started with Haggerty but when I bought my 9500, they wouldn't insure it. I went to Gulfway and they now have my coe, the GMC 860 and my trailer. Very nice to deal with. They insured the 9500 before I sold it and they did not care that it was not restored. When I cancelling the Hagerty policy, a couple days later, after realizing they had lost me over the 9500, they called and just about begged me to come back.
Oh yea, they have no problem with me using one truck to haul the other as long as its mine.

In the 10 plus years I have not had any problems with Grundy,The price has been good and the service great.I would call them again something does not sound rite.

I am using my reg. insurance co. but i am concerned about the fight with them i will have if something happens. i have all my receipts and a professional appraisal. most of the collector car insurance co. have a very restrictive use clause and i like to just drive mine. i take it to work on limited basis and just for fun runs. and they don't allow it. my reg. insurance co. who i have been with for 36 years and one time was an agent insures it and the agent told me if i had all the receipts they would pay off but that is only his opinion. ron

i will be switching to them within a couple weeks.
they gave me a quote of $347.00 a year for my 57 with an agreed value of 15k with 500 dollar deductible. 100k liability and 100k uninsured motorists.
no mileage restrictions and can drive every day of the week, and no garage needed.

thanks for the tip, as i have been searching for 2 years for an insurer that dont require storage or mileage restrictions.

Last week I checked with my State Farm agent. Six years ago, she had nothing to offer.

However, their present rates, terms, and coverage for antique vehicles is now lower-priced, with better terms, than is Hagerty. My Hagerty renewal is in in mid-April, so I will be switching (unless Hagerty relents and lets me carry an antique vehicle on an antique COE flatbed).

I use American Collector Insurance. For Michigan it comes to 87 dollars a year. Just tell them you "never drive it". They're based in Flordia or something you never have to worry about them coming to make sure your classic is stored securely in a air tight box. The only requirement they have is that it's registered Historic.

at least with gulfway there aint no reason to have to lie, and maybe get caught doing something your not suppose to do, like driving on a week day or not having it in a garage.
so far, after a 2 year search, gulfway is the only place that will do this, other than progressive, but progressive wanted something like 200 bucks a month.

Its My opinion that fibbing to an Insurance Company on
the coverage is reason enough to reject any claims...I am sure

I also make sure that everything is on the up-and-up when arranging insurance. For my own good and the good of others.
