I have seen all kinds of posts in the archives on later models but none on 1940. The only thing I want to change on my original truck is the brakes. I just don't feel comfortable with the single system. Thanks | | |
#62277 06/27/2006 4:04 PM | Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 784 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2000 Posts: 784 | I'm sure your 40 is simmilar to my 46 so you can use a master cylinder from a 69 mustang (drums front & rear), fab up a bracket that will bolt to the original holes in your pedal assembly and replumb your break lines. It's a little bit of work but if I can do it. It can't be that hard.
You'll want to make sure that your brake shoes are good and that your brake cilinders are in good condition also.

Check the on line catalogs for master cyl and see which one it is. I believe it was Filling Station but may have also been JCarter or Chevs of Forties....it was one of the three. I know they listed one for a 37 1/2 ton but believe others as well. Good luck. | | |
