Finished my last project; dug out the next one and started in; 1928 Chevy literally in pieces. Three days in, and LOTS of hours. First problem: won't bore you with details, but need a donor frame and found a rolling chassis from a 1950 pickup. It would give me modern brakes, suspension, steering etc. It is the answer. Question: I found the dimensions of a 1950 pickup online and it showed 46 inch width on the frame rails "at the rear" which is not where I need a measurement right now before I pay the money for the rolling chassis (150 miles away so measuring it is not an option right now). Can anybody tell me or direct me to a link where the approximate width is of the frame where the cab would be placed, of a 1950 half ton is located, so I can see if my 1928 cab will be "close" to working on it.

Hy professor229, I couldn't find a dimension chart that showed the different width dimensions, but the frame is 173 1/8" long, 47" wide at the rear, and 29 1/4" wide at the front, the frame rails are straight, maybe you can extrapilate the dimension you require by making up a wood model, hope that helps.

where the front cab mounting holes are, the frame is 32 inches wide and at the rear cab mount the frame is 37 1/4 inches wide.

Just my thought, but the AD frame is much too wide for a 28 Chevy.

I've got a 28 Chevy car, and a couple AD trucks (but not a 1/2 ton) and my first guess is that's going to be a tough swap if it even works.
The 28 is a very narrow car, and the AD trucks while still narrow is somewhat wider than the 28.

Best do some careful measuring and figuring before deciding for sure.

The 3/4 tons are 11" more narrow at the rear, front in is the same as 1/2 ton. Hope this helps.
