Hello All...I've been dealing with a lot of different Vendors out there during my 57 build, and wanted to share some experiences.

1) Truck Shop Orange Ca. Has very good prices, but I'm STILL waiting for "Very Common" parts I ordered 6 WEEKS AGO. (Loss Leaders Conveniently Not in Stock; Chrome Headlight Bezels, Wiper Bezels) They also advertised FREE shipping for orders over $250, and then claimed "oversize" on my window frames and I had to pay $36. (Box didn't look big to me.) I also had to return division bars when the chrome trim was not on them ( I asked sales rep before ordering)as expected. These people are allegedly "the source" on a lot of parts, but I won't use these people again for Anything!

2)Superior Chrome in Houston. I just got pot metal parts and division bar trim back from Bobby. Not 100% perfect, but Good, and the price was less than 1/2 of what 2 other platers quoted. Super fast service; parts were done in a week or so.

3)Classic Glass in Wa. This Guy Rocks! I got a new tinted 55-9 windshield delivered to a local depot for under $200. Bob 800-624-2130

4)Tuckers Las Vegas. Fast service, and gave me a Very Good Deal on a Hard to find chrome GMC bumper. The box was twice the size of truck shop's box, and No Oversize Shipping Charge.

5)Ecklers Fl. A bit pricey, but for me they have matched published low prices on some items. Super Fast Shipping.

6)New Old Parts on Ebay. Got a Great Deal on a 21 Circuit EZ Wiring Harness, and a Dolphin Gauge Package with billet Bezel. Fast shipping also.

7)Discount Tire Direct. Check them out online. I got a set of T/A Radials for the best price I could find Anywhere. Fast Free Shipping, AND I got a $70 Promotional Rebate!

8)American Classic. Got a very good deal on flat glass. Ships Fast.

9)Finishmaster (Nationwide Paint/body Supply). My local shop is Great! They give me Body shop prices on Paint and Materials. Plus Good Advice.

Hope this info can help someone out.

Sorry you had that experience with the Truck Shop Orange, CA. I had a totally different experience the 3 times I have dealt with them so far. One Big difference is each time I was there in person. I live 600 miles north of them but I had some rare work trips in their area. I couldn't have asked for better service. A few parts had to be ordered but were there when promised. There can probably be hurdles occasionally when they are bringing in huge quantities of Chinese products. They gladly let me look at each part and if I didn't like it they got another one, no problem. Can't do that by mail easily unfortunately.

There have a unique and very interesting shop/store with a lot of original parts all over the walls. The people there were really very pleasant to deal with and very knowledgeable too. My only interest in them is to see that they get a fair shake. I am a satisfied customer that will continue to buy from them.

Anybody know a source for splash-oiler connecting rod oil dippers? Also, didn't somebody here have the oil pan squirter aiming fixture for sale as a repop?
Thanks!
Jerry

I have to say, despite being 3000+miles over 'the big blue' my experiences have so far, been good.

(1)Truckshop Ca. Order complete and on time.(Free shipping ONLY inside the US)

(2)Master Power Brakes, wrong M/C sent, but problem rectified in less than 7 days,at no extra cost to me.
Plus I got to keep the 'wrong' F*rd one. eek

(3)E-Z wiring, fast and efficient.Pleasure to deal with.

(4)New Vintage Gauges,great product,great company,pleasant staff.

(5)AirRide Technologies, good,helpful tech back-up.

There have been many, many more smaller parts too,and as yet have had NO problems.

In fact I've received parts from US vendors quicker than some suppliers I've dealt with over here!

All in all i've had good experience dealing with all of them, and have found their staff polite and helpful.

Maybe i've just been lucky.......

Truckshop CA. has been one of the worst vendors I have dealt with. I ordered side windows for my '54 in late November. I was told that they were in stock and would ship with the rest of my order. Of course they had the free shipping claim, but they charged me over $75 dollars in shipping. I still have no windows, even though I have paid for them and the shipping. After many phone calls the only solution they have for me is that they can charge my credit card again and order them from another vendor at twice the price. Stay away.

I got sorry work from Bobby at superior chrome. They returned my hood rocket with a big tear in the wing. And lied about several things before the issue was resolved. A search here will show the details.

A former member here was not so lucky. His grille was ruined. You can find that with a search, too.

I would not use them again.

I am also based in the Uk, in September I started a rebuild on a 55 and sent an order to Truck shop, after what seemed ages, I tried e mailing them, but never got an answer, I then had to call them ( not cheap - especially when they put me on hold for ever)it turns out that the windows I had ordered were not available, neither were some of the other bits, I felt I had such a poor response to my orders that I cancelled the whole order and went else where, since then I have spent about $5k on rebuild parts with various other Uk & US based vendors, and I am glad that not a penny went to Truck shop, their loss on this occasion and I would never recomend them to anyone else in the Uk.

Chevy Parts - Uk based are superb and Classic American are very good also.

Now don't even get me started on CPP !

I have had some good and bad experiences with the Truck Shop. The good part is they are close by and except for the aggravation of having to take stuff back most purchases worked out OK. I have found that many common parts that I used to get from them were available from Napa and Autozone for less.
Fortunately there are about six aftermarket suppliers in this area that carry most of the same parts. What I have found from being involved in restorations and repair over many years is that there are very few parts people left. Most just push parts across the counter and have no idea if it will work or not.
