so i know the speedo works but the other gauges were not functioning when i bought the truck, is there anyway to test and see if they were just wired poorly or should i trash and replace them or can i get them rebuilt?

Take them out and give them a good cleaning and inspection. Be very careful with the tube connected to the temp gauge, it is gas filled and if you break it it will never work again. The gas and amp gauges will most likely just have bad connections or broken wires somewhere. If you want new gauges then you can get them from Jim Carter or American Classic see the links on the home page of stovebolt.

If you have an air compressor, set the compressor on 30 psi and blow it into the end of your oil pressure sensor. The oil pressure gauge should be fairly accurate whether it's measuring oil or air. Mine is anyway.

The gas gauge should register full when powered up with no sender attached. When you ground the sender lead it should register empty.

The ammeter is easy to test. Hook it up in series with a load and see that it registers. Reverse the polarity to test the opposite direction.

The temperature gauge can be tested with a pot of boiling water.
