Dan,
Can you check your assy manual to see what could be holding it down?
My 57 had the 2 straps and that was it. Not sure if our tanks wold be the same set up though. Good luck!

I just took mine out of my 50 GMC and did everything you did. It needs a good whack with the palm of your hand a couple of times to unseat it from the lower cradle. There is nothing else holding it in. Make sure you have removed the shut off valve under the tank.

There is a rubber pad under the tank right at the draw pipe that sticks to the tank and the bottom of the cab. I'm not sure if they were glued at the factory or just became stuck after 60 years. I little wiggling should get it loose.

There's that rubber that crenwelge mentions and there may still be two rectangular pads that isolate the tank from the straps, probably to prevent rattling as well as wear
to the tank.
If you grab it with both hands and rock it firmly it should break loose.
Any pads and rubber seals just get gummy and adhere after many years.

I think the pad on the bottom has a tar like substance on it. The heat melts it and then it sticks to the tank. It's been 3.5 years since I removed mine but I agree with the rest here, get mean with it.

a bit of gas in the tank and a road flare would remove it, however it would be a bit hard on the rest of the vehicle. My 53 came out with a pry from a piece of wood and a whack with the rubber mallet (my tank is in good shape, just needed to pull it to clean out the rat poop)

I know you mentioned You removed the fuel line- Was there a valve or a fitting that you might have missed that it is catching on?
