not sure if this is the correct spot for this post, but reading through my november 09 #36 issue of ol' skool rodz, on page 11, there is an ad for a guy who says he can get a title for anything up to 1992.
the ad says....

I would check your state DMV first. In some states all you need is a bill of sale and you can get your title.

Not saying he's not legit but most states will let you get a title for a vehicle that doesn't have one. THIS PAGE give you tips on how to do it in many states AND if you know how to do it in a state that isn't on the list PLEASEEEEE add it...Joe

Ratrodking: I have not personally tried this guy but I have listened in the car club meetings of guys who offer these services and you end up with 300-500 in trying to get a title you can use. As 57blevins suggest I'd check with the state DMV... AND when dealing with title folks ask all the questions BEFORE you send them your money. Some of them go through a couple states before you get what you want.
I just went through a nightmare with Ca. and they are the ones that screwed up!!! Its a long story!!
A while back there were a couple folks mentioned that did a good job but can't remember. I"m sure you'll get more responds and perhaps someone who has dealt with this exact one can share their story. Sorry to mislead you about this particular one when I don't know them.

thanks guys... fortunatly i dont need a title, my 57 came with one, but i wqs just posting this for anyone who might need his services, since there is a lot of talk about titles.

before i bought my 57, i was looking at another one that had no title, and i called the florida dmv, and they gave me the run around, basically saying a bill of sale was not enough, so i kept looking until i found a truck with a title.

most states will give you a "bonded title" and i myself have been going this route with 100% sucess for 30+ years

sorry to butt in butt you may be able to help me out.I have a post in new member area (new from sc). Im having problems getting a title for my 1953 chevy 1/2 ton 3100 and wanted to ask you if you could give me some information on how to go about getting a bonded title.Thanks John

I don't know what 10 Micron will say, but I do know he lives in the State of Washington like I do. There is state law and regulations that govern the process here.

Washington Bonded Title

Your state is probably similar but you really have to start with your state's specific rules. You may need to do some searching online to find something similar to Washington's web site with a listing of what you need to do.

In Colorado, it is very expensive and timely to get a new clean title. It takes alot more than a bill of sale. I spent over $500 in fees and bonds plus an additional $1500 in parts getting a free titless vehicle road worthy, road worthy inspected, VIN inspected, temporarily permited and finally titled with 5 year collector plates (it would have costed about $150 for the 5 year tags on a non-running insured and titled vehicle).

Furthermore, CO is very skeptical, difficult, or downright deny out of state new titles from certain states that are known to be easy to establish titles. Like the businesses that offer to buy your vehicle, title it in their state and resell the vehicle to you with that state's title - Neveda or Utah does this and some state out east does it, too.
