I started out with a razor blade,ended up putting a edge on my pocket knife. Those fibers look like they are a cavlar material. I have read the older rope seals had asbestos in them.
Whats your thoughts ??

"babbit" referred to the soft metal linings of the piston arm that rides on the crank like a busing, and "beater" referred to how the crank picked up oil from the pan to lubricate "babbit." Hence "babbit-beater". But get another opinion. | | |
