I've got the steering box mounted with an adapter plate that I made. The problem I having is that the drag links that I have (one off the '63 and one off a '78 4x4) are too long even if I turn them all the way in. Plus it looks like when I turn, the drag link is going to take a high angle. The high angle doesn't look that bad though, but it is a little higher than with the manual steering gear. I am still using the 44-5f front axel. Thought about getting one for a lifted truck to see if that would work. Also thought about making one out of some d.o.m. tubing and some heim joints. Has anyone got any ideas?

My drage link it paralel to the ground because the "pitman arm" I guess its called that runs from the spline shaft of the steering box to the link has been welded to make it longer. How did you choose the location for the steering box? If you duplicated the arrangement from a later truck you should be able to adapt the steering arm, drag link and pitman from that truck.

The '78 has the GM 10 bolt diff. the '63 has the Dana 44-5f diff on it. The steering arms on the diffs. are totally different. I don't want to change out my diff. just to have power steering though. I found a drag link for raised trucks that might work. Instead of being straight, it is shaped like an "s" and I can get on with a 2" to a 6" suspention lift.

It's going to have to be a short drag link, about 3in. shorter. I've tried turning the ends in all the way, but it is still to long. I'm stuck. As far as the angle issue, I can just use a dropped pitman arm.
