For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 130 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 130 | I trailered my '34 many hours for the chp to look at. I had to have an appointment set up a month in advance. I was alittle jumpy considering all my investment in the registering of this truck. As it turned out they were kind of glad and interested to see the old truck. They looked at all my papers and asked quite a few questions pertaining to the nmbers and plates. I had brought my original engine with the vin numbers just in case= although they didn't seem that interested in it. Ended up they used the numbers on my new engine and made a new id plate as well as stamped the frame. Went smooth --then just a hour wait in the dmv line and I had my ticket to ride! This truck hadn;t been registered in 20 years and in a midwest state and had changed owners several times hence all the trouble. Not to mention my plate on the firewall numbers had no bearing on the illinois vin. So I am back to adjusting and tuning and doing small projects on it--a good place to be--It made a trip to the store and back so I guess it is a bonified useful object again.

Registering an old vehicle, especially from out of state can sometimes be a real pain in the .....differential. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Yes it can be hard to register. I learned t he ard way and now I never start to work on one until I have a title from MY state in my hand. Had a nightmare with a title recently on a vehicle from California. Well, long story short it was CA. that messed the whole thing up and lucky for me a phone call and an extra 35 bucks they admitted their mistake and made it right. Whew!!! | | |
