I own a fully restored 53 3100 and I'm glad I found a website dedicated to old Chevy's.
Ive got a thread going in the Engine section about completely rebuilding a 216...so if you have any advice,etc, feel free to post there!

I threw out my old low pressure 235 and snagged a 261, very similar engine. If your truck is really fully restored, it's cool to keep the original engine, but the '53 and earlier engines are less desirable than '54 and newer. I was there from 73-79 but am in Enterprise now. Enterprise was the state capitol (for one night) about the same time Old Dollar was in the Free State of Jones. It is nice to see the dings vanish into the layers of primer even if it is a very slow process.
