I own a 1948 GMC Pickup. I have had the truck for 20 years now. It was a project that someone else had started and did not finish. I started out with only the shell of the cab on the frame. The truck was completely dis-assembled and all of the parts were in boxes, buckets and anything else the guy could find to throw them in. The truck is now 98% complete. I would however like to add air conditioning to finish it up. Some of the special details on the truck are: Homemade bed with S-10 floor, 84 Nissan Stanza gas door in back of cab, electric operation of tailgate latches by use of a door lock solenoid and some special engineering inside the homemade tailgate, 1974 Nova SS sub-frame with power disc brakes and a 1998 S-10 Rear end with 4:10 posi unit. I am going to post some pictures when I figure out how to get them out there.

Images and story in the signature line.

Guys, I put 12 pictures in the photobucket last night and went into it today and there are only 6 pictures. I did go into the link last night after uploading them and all 12 were there at midnight last night. What's up with this?

Hey.... your photos are in your Photobucket just not in your "1948 GMC" album which you link to in your above entry.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.

What's the deal with the little access door on the back of the cab behind the driver's seat?

Which is passingly strange. The '48 model had the gas filler on the right side of the bed, behind the cab. (I should know. I own a '48.) Routing it through the back of the cab would be an interesting approach. Where would the gas tank be located? Behind the seat? If it is, then it's not a '48. Or it's been modified in a way that would be strange - why would you deliberately put the tank in the cab? (Yes, I know Chevy did it for years.)

Yes, it is the gas filler neck that was moved from the passenger side to the back of the cab. The gas door is from a 1984 Nissan Stanza car. The cab is a 48 from a 1 1/2 ton truck that had the tank behind the seat originally. Yes my truck did have the tank on the right side in the bedside orignally but the tank was no good and the tank in the replacement cab was good so I stuck with it. The bed sides are hand made with 1 1/2" muffler pipe mig welded to make the roll on top with an S-10 floor. The tailgate opens by using the push button in the license plate opening. I engineered some brackets and spring loaded the pins using a door lock solenoid to pull the pins. Just some things to make the truck different. It has a 358 (350 .040" over) gear drive, 270 magnum cam, 1974 Nova SS subframe, 700R4 tranny with 1999 S-10 rear end with 4:10 posi unit.
