I am going to have to replace the upright pieces, both ends are rusted out. So I don't have to worry about saving them. Thanks Eric | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 | Should be able to drill most of them, if not use a die grinder. | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,597 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,597 | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | When I took Mine apart to fix I used a 1/4 inch drill bit and it worked good the rivets are 1/4 inch when I put Mine back together I used 1/4 X 3/8 long screws

Easy to take apart in the future. | | | | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 154 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 154 | Thanks guys. I got it apart, wow there are a lot of rivets to drill out. Now all I have to do is blast it to get rid of 50 plus years of crud. Thanks for the replies. | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 649 | I just wanted suggest that it might be easier to use "pop" rivets instead of screws. You can get the short aluminum rivets and its faster. | | | | Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 154 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2002 Posts: 154 | Well I got the grill all blasted Webshots also added some more pictures and captions to my webshots. | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 35 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 35 | One little side note, the bars will only go in a specific spot. There are notches on the back side of each bar that note it's location and corresponding notches on the back bars.
It took me 5 grills to get enough pieces to make one when I first put the truck together.
If you haven't learned atleast one thing new today, you have wasted the whole day
