Heres the scenario. Driving down the road sometimes for an hour sometimes more or less. At times when I have to come to a rather quick stop my voltage meter goes really low and in a few instances the truck has stalled. Its the 305 in my '78 Silverado. Any ideas on what could be causing this. I'm stumped.

Is your truck carbed or injected? Will it start right back up?
Could be loading up if it's carbed and stalling/if injected I don't have a clue.

Be careful calling yourself a expert, because an "EX" is a hasbeen and a"SPERT" is a drip under pressure.

I would start by cleaning all the battery connections and ground, then go from there.

Check the wires at the junction block on the fire wall. The fusible links that attatch there get brittle and sometimes break when the engine harness gets old. This is very common on the 73-87 trucks. Also check the wire at the junction block that runs behind the engine that leads to the starter, there could be a break in that wire.

my 81 camaro did similar under a quick stop. I found that the float was out of adjustment causing fuel to slosh and stalling it. Voltmeter drops because of the drop in rpm. what carb are you running.
