I too miss that section! I e-mailed the moderator, and he said that if there was enough interest, they would bring it back.......here's my vote (YES!)

I vote yes!

What would enough interest be? Maybe we need to mention this is every 1-ton thread....

I see four explicit votes and two implied here. Six may not be a large enough show of interest.

Guys if we are going to see the forum come back we need to do some recruiting... And I do think that would be the right way, not harranging the management.

I think its a worthy cause because (1) the 1-ton trucks do present some challenges that are neither little bolt nor big, and (2) my subjective judgement is that interest in these trucks is increasing.

Or at least I feel I see more 3800/1-ton questions of late. I suspect its because the supply of 1/2- and 3/4-ton trucks is drying up some, but interest is interest.

So how about this as a plan. Start a thread about 1-ton trucks and watch who participates and recruit them to our show of interest.

Does that sound good?

Anyone have a good question to start the ball rolling? I can't think of anything this morning that hasn't been asked and answered already. Also in a few hours I expect to be Internet free or at least have very limited access for a while, so I'd be asking a public question and dropping out of site (which I'm doing here, but its among friends).

If it were a permanent forum, I think that it would be a great idea to transfer older 3/4 and 1 ton topics into the fold.

I'd like to see it come back. There would have been more posts if the various forum moderators would have moved the 1 ton questions to the Tons 'o Fun forum. There are more 1 tons than fire trucks. not me

Hello, hello. I see some names in here I've never seen before. So, it's good to see you all have generated a little "chatter."

Believe it or not, we have had sleepless nights wondering about the Tons of Fun forum. *I* wondered about making it a sub-forum under Big Bolts. Of course, *I* really don't know much about the hard iron facts about the trucks. My job is mostly to keep information out there and somewhat (hahaha) orderly.

If we make it a stand alone forum, we'd let the moderators know that it's there and if a question is a specific 1-tonner, then they would surely move it there. As you know, some of these questions can fit in various spots.

Bruce, there surely are more 1-tons than fire trucks ... but have you seen these fire truck nuts??? Plus, they all fit nice and neatly into the Big Bolts section so they are not a problem.

Anyway ... we'll get the Grand Poh Bah to ponder this and we'll see what he comes up with.

Good discussion. Not much groveling. LOL ... I like it.

Would it help to grovel? Look: here's a pic just for you, kind, fearless and wonderful Pegstress, and all the most excellent, great and powerful moderators with the generous nature to indulge us miserable, homeless tonner owners without our own forum. http://inlinethumb47.webshots.com/44782/2078187180096215731S600x600Q85.jpg

Hey Hotshoe36,
Haven't seen you for ages. I can tell it's been ages, because my truck is still off the road. Not for lack of trying. I keep finding problems with it and it's like an onion as I peel back the parts, I find more problems. Over the past few weeks I was searching for an exhaust manifold without a crack. I think I have one, but I am soaking it in molasses to remove the rust.

Do you still have that one ton? I remember you had it up for sale at one time.

Still around, Paul - occasionally. Still have the one-tonner. It was for sale late last year when my butt was in a sling. Pulled my act together, and now I'm repowering Epic #2 with an '81 250. Might be finished by this time next year, at the pace I work.

Your engine is a 235, yes? I'll be unloading some 216 stuff, so if your new maniflod doesn't work out, maybe I have something that will work.

I have nothing against firetrucks, I just thought it might get some attention if I made a brazen comment like that. eek If it's people you need, I'd volunteer to be a moderator for a 1 Ton forum. I liked it and visited the forum everyday like most on the site. If you brought it back we would never complain about anything else on the site....ever....promise. blush

Yes, yes, yes! I hit several of the forums but fit best in the Tons 'o Fun and the 60-66. "cause I've got a one ton 65. I like the General and Big Bolts but don't always find the information and pique of interest that I do in the Tons 'o Fun and 60-66. My attendance is sporatic because occasionally I have to go outside to do something, like work or chores, and the darn extension cord keeps gettin unplugged if I try to take the comuter with me. pudding proof of my spoaticity is that I did not know Tons 'o Fun was AWOL until I read this thread. And I opened this thread to read why it was posted in Big Bolts.

I'm not a owner of a 1 ton but have bigger and smaller along with a stable of cars. I really enjoyed having 1 tons having its own section and visited it daily. What ever is decided is fine, but I'd like to cast a vote in favor.

Well, John and I did get to talk about the Tons of Fun forum over a few beers looking out over the tree field. It had been a good and productive weekend, so it looks like things are leaning in your direction.

We'll just have to make it happen from this end.

Bruce, "never ever?" hehehehe ... (only kidding)

Stayed tuned ...

The 216 has a different bolt pattern on the exhaust manifold where it attaches to the intake manifold.

Hey one ton-ers,
Are the fenders on a one ton the same size as the 1 1/2 or 2 ton trucks, or are they the same as the 1/2 and 3/4? What size tires do they use?
Just curious about sheet metal interchange capabilities.

1-ton fenders, hood and grill are the same as the smaller trucks.

1-tons came with 17 inch single rear wheels or 18 inch dual rear wheels.
