I'm getting really tired of walking past my truck as it slowly grows downward into the earth. I've got so many projects and a running driveable truck would be so nice. Is it time to give it up and sell my beast to someone who will resurrect it in this lifetime. I'm thinking so. any opinions?

No one can tell you what to do.....that's a decision you alone can make. I haven't worked on mine in monthes...just don't have the time. I believe Alvin said it best. Spend 5 minutes a day.....you'll get something done. Aw hell let me that my own advice! Have fun and good luck

I always make it a point to have at least one jalopy that runs and stops. Otherwise it is easy to lose interest. If it fits into your budget, you might consider something that drives while you work on the truck of your dreams.

I've had my '39 for 11 years!! Worked on it off and on (mostly off) It's kind of frustrating when you read in a magazine that a project took A REALLY LONG TIME and it was 2 or 3 years. But eventually it will get going!

I'd just hate to see it rust to the point of no return before I can get to it. Maybe someone else could do justice to the old girl. I don't mean to get all gushy but it's a shame to see old iron die.

It is a shame to see old iron die. I've had mine for many years and haven't had the time to work on it. Like most people here its a labour of love when i can get to do a bit with my truck. Now the Australian dollar has moved closer to the American dollar I've just bought lots of parts to get me right back into it. I wont finish mine for years yet, but its nice to spend time occassionally tinkering with it. As none of this has helped you, you'll have to make your own decision of what you really want for this truck.

Don't let that little tin worm on your shoulder, you know the one with the little pitch fork,very sharp teeth and pointy ears get the best of you. Get her away from further decay, cover her up, if possible get her into a building! At least if you didn't see it or walk past it everyday until you wanted to maybe this would help!Wish I lived closer I would gladly give you a hand to keep it from going downhill any further. Very nice tuck & well worth fixing up. Give or take a few years things could change. I understand your frustration, I've had mine for 6 years and it seems like its never going to get done. One of the older guys in the car club I belong to gave me some very good advise one day, similar to what Alvin said. If you made it a point to do something towards your project every day, even if it is 5 min. or 50 min. surprisingly it will start to be encouraging. The fun,adventures,people you meet & stories behind that beautiful old truck will last a lifetime. I know its not like that country song "It would have been cheaper to keep her" but it would sure be nice to see you driving her to a Stovebolt meet someday. I know how you feel. I've got two non bolts that I've been walking past for years. My problem is that I keep finding other projects (usually easier ones) that I keep doing first, and these keep getting pushed to the back burner. (One was even inside, and last fall I moved it outside.) I finally decided to try and sell them also, and let someone else give them the attention that they deserve. So far, though, I have not had too many takers.

I have a friend that restores old Chevrolet cars, I have known him about 45 years and during that time he has restored about 15 cars while I have looked at mine and done very little. His secret is do one little thing every day on the project and it will get done, just look and nothing will happen.

Sometimes you just know you aren't going to finish a project vehicle. Since vehicle projects are major time/money/space investments, make certain you want to spend your time/money/space working on the specific vehicle you are considering. If it doesn't pass this first test, sell it, you won't ever "get to it".

I have an old '51 plymouth suburban that I wanted to do that I have lost all interest in. It was on deck, but then I found a '53 chevy truck and the plymouth is still on deck. And now I find myself watching chevy suburbans and needing space, so that poor plymouth's gonna have to go. One man's trash, as the saying goes...

I have been going nuts all summer ...havent done anything to my bolt in months,but my deal is i ran out of money.i will be able to save up after the holidays,and when i get my taxes back. i havefaced the facts and know that it will be stop and go for a few years im sure,but every time i do a little more it keeps the dream alive.i have sandblasted and primered the entire truck, to me that was the hardest part over.

You know, I walked past the old girl and she sure looks nice. I'm thinking that it would be a shame to give up without a fight. Maybe I'll just go measure the leaf attachments to see if....

nice project truck fellow canuck,I would suggest if you have the room keep it.Get one of those portable parking tents and keep it dry.One never knows what life may bring your way ,say if you win a lottery or an insurance claim ect you will kick yourself for letting it go..
