Have you guys ever seen issues where the snap in weather stripping at the base of the door glass (on the door) catch the metal strip on the bottom of the door glass? You know where the glass is fixed in the metal bracket that the gliders go on. This keeps the glass from completly going up.
It seems to be that this new weather stripping sits too low down in the door as well I always thought the stripping should be even or a tad above the door...

I wonder if it is just this cheap replacement parts I got? Thoughts? I am about ready to pop a fuse...

If you're referring to the "fuzzies" that attach to the door on both sides of the glass - they should be about 1/2" tall and mount almost flush with the top edge of the opening. I installed new ones on my 1960 GMC about 10 years ago, and they were a bit snug for a while but fit well right from the start.

It sounds like you were either sold inferior parts or the wrong ones for your truck.

I posted my results with the beaded window seals on 10/10/09 in this forum. The same thing happened to me! The windows will not go past the seals, as the metal at the bottom of the window catches on the seals. If you try to force the window past the seals, bad things happen......don't ask how I know! I got mine from "Classic", and I'm not impressed. I'm wondering who makes these that actually work as they are intended?

Ah, I did not see your post when I was searching... Well, I am in the same boat here...

I am glad to know I am not alone at least. I got mine from the same place as you did and I am starting to get a little upset about it. Mine was a kit that I got about 2 years ago where it had all the rubber in the kit.
Has anyone got new ones installed that worked right and where did they come from. I guess I just need to order a new pair.

Is there a chance that the glass is not in the bracket correctly or that the glass has been replaced and potentially short? If the glass sits too low, or if it is short it may have to come up too far. I replaced my window rubber last year and things worked OK. The kit came from J. CArter's or Classic. I suspect my glass is small since I can not roll it all the way up (and into the top of the car window frame). Maybe something to consider.

I replaced mine 4 years ago and had no trouble as I got mine from the Truck and Car shop in Orange Ca. they fit perfectly. You are talking about the anti rattle pieces right?
Have you replaced the glass with new glass? They might of cut the new glass a little short as I had a friend who ran into that problem.

This is for sure the strips (anti rattle pieces). I am using the same glass and I did not take the bracket off the glass. So same as it was new in 64. Just the strips are for real catching the edged of the metal bracket on the glass.... I can feel it in there with my finger and see the door panel move when it hits.

I must just got some crappy parts. I need to see if another company has better ones.. These do not fit flush with the top edged either.. They sit down in there about 1/4.. and that is about what the glass need to make it to the top...

So if someone has just got some new ones for a 64-66 that do fit right, can you tell me where you got them? Please?

You didn't put them in upside-down, did ya? wink
Mine came from LMC, and the driver's side is doing what you describe. My theory is that the window goes up a little further than it should (or is just out of whack) 'cuz the rest of the seals/guides are shot. I don't want to replace all that stuff until I paint.
Best luck.

Yes, except for the driver's side, outside one. The bottom of the window pushes it up some when I try to close the window all the way. But, like I said, I don't think it's the fault of the strips. I normally have it cracked open, anyway.

Michael:

Glass Run Channel...same issue, same vendor, same frustration on my '63. It starts catching about 2/3 of the way up. Did you ever get a fix?

If you replaced the glass on your windows they may have cut the glass to short. I just checked the glass on my 62 and it is about a 1/8 below the anti rattle pieces. The windows are orginial windows. The glass if orginial should have the PPG. lable on the glass.

It's not the glass! I have the exact same situation with mine. Worked fine before I took them apart to paint. When I put them back together with new seals, they wont roll all the way up. darn Chinese crap!

What if any solution/fix did you apply? Min is original glass.

I was thinking it might be with the regulator not pushing the glass up square, but I think I ruled that out. The body shop took out the original felt several months back when I had it was painted so I dont have access to the original. Im curious if the replacment run channel has too much fabric on the lower end; ie should it just be the insert component in the "U" run channel on the section below door/window frame and the insert plus the wrap farbric above the door frame? Thoughts?

Do you have metal frame windows or just glass on the upper window? There two different types of channel for the back and top of door the same goes for the division bar they have different widths too as it all depends on the window style.

The pieces are too "fat", or thick. They do not give enough clearance for the metal channel at the bottom of the glass to pass through, and let the window roll all the way to the top. I still have my originals, and have compared them side by side. They repro's are not well formed, (too thick) and have junky little clips that fall off at the slightest bit of tension, and are not reusable..........in other words POS!

Regular windows, no frame. Like Kerry3 states, the product appears to be too thick.

My issue is still not fixed, I have ordered the anti rattle from Classic parts and Brothers and pretty much have the same China made junk.. As far as I can see there are 2 issues...
1. The anti rattle things sit too low on the door. They are not flush with the top of the door like the original ones.
2. It seems they are a little too thick as well. The metal trough where the glass sits catches on strip...
Mine is not the truck or the glass it is the crap replacement parts I have gotten. I am really unhappy with most of the things I have gotten from Classic Parts and so far I have gotten the same parts from Brothers Trucks.. I just paid more for it.
