is there much difference between a hd melling oil pump vs a stock pump? pros? cons?
my engine will be coming back from machining, and i'll soon be putting it back together
i just started the 3.90 rebuild, and discovered that one of the diff carrier bearings had spun a tad on it's inner race. staked the carrier in many-many places, approx .001 overall, in order to make a tight fit. and rust mort looks like it'll do a good prep job for paint

Rednate,

I went for the Melling myself when I picked up a bunch of goodies from Patrick's. I just always used them 'cause Pop always swore by Harry Melling's product. I don't think you are talking that much more money for the Melling either. No scientific data to back up my purchase however.
