I thought I read somewhere that they were dropped at some point. Both the head and intake manifold on my 1960 vintage block appear to have been machined to accept the rings. (Which I don't have). Using the rings makes a better job, won't move around and less likely to leak. You can buy these from most truck vendors or make some from exhaust tubing. Also I like to use the Copper Coat gasket sealer for the manifolds. | | |
