I have to do some welding on the underside of my cab and plan to roll it back onto the frame rather than removing it. At this point the cab is completely stripped of everything and I've padded the frame with 4 inches of foam rubber.

For those who have done this without the aid of any pulleys or other machines how many men would you say it requires to do this safely?

Any tips or advice is GREATLY appreciated because this is scaring the hell out me. I've got like 600+ hours into this cab and I'll hang myself if I screw it up now.

I need some good advice and re-assurance here guys.

Woody, I did mine myself.... eek
I supported the rear of the cab on 3x2"
See picture
I assume this part of your cab is sound?
I tilted it back until I found it's tipping point, then lashed it to my joists.
Then at the rear I then lowered it onto pads on the chassis axle humps.
I used fairly high density foam.
Just make sure it's well padded.
I had NO damage whatsoever.
Ideally though,you want a minimum of 2 people,I was probably a bit stoopid !
Maybe that's why I recently had a hernia op! dang

Four men can completely lift the cab with relatively ease. It should take only two of you should be able to roll the cab on to it's back.

I put a pallet across the rear of the frame and padded it with bubble wrap and cardboard. I bolted a 2X4 to the firewall, and with one person lifting the front and a person at each rear corner to guide it down made it easy.

It sounds like you have a good plan. Just one word of caution, you will not want to catch that foam on fire while welding. You would never get the stink out of your shop or truck.

Good news guys, Had some friends over and the cab rolled back without a hitch. Anyone considering this, it's a piece of cake, not a single thing to be concerned about.

Now I can finally get the cab finalized, just some welding and we're on the downhill slide I've been waiting for for almost two years!

Now for the easy stuff.. yea, right! drive
