There several grades of sand that people use around here. I like the pre sized sand in 60 mesh I have used the Black Diamond on some small brackets and liked the results also.

I get my sand from the local company that mixes and sells concrete. Its 50lb bags for 3.28 and its sized. Its for blasting and comes in medium, fine and extra fine. I can't remember the exact size... I think it comes something like 40 or 60 ect..... Silica was removed from sale where I now live,hazardous to your health they said,so I found it 75 miles away in another town.
I tried brown sand in different grits but it doesn't cut into rust as well as silica. Black diamond and those other medias work good but I don't reclaim the sand because most of what I blast is to large for my blast cabinet.
