today i primed my underfloor in grey on the blank metal.
what color would you use for the top coating? is black ok or will i have problems later to find partial damage?

You can paint it any color you want to. I usually paint it with grey epoxy primer and leave it at that.

Some paint it the color of the vehicle and some just paint it black.

Apache...I don't know if your going for total authenticity but here's what i did with mine it's POR-15.
It's very hard wearing and should be good corrosion protection.
Something i'm sure you'll need for those cold German winters....
Do they salt the roads in winter there?

I used POR 15, then POR Etch Primer, then followed up with POR Hardnose Light Yellow. It is pretty close to the Corvette Yellow I plan on painting my truck. I used this same process on the underside of each fender, and inner fenders. If you do use the Hardnose, it doesn't spray well, I kept it to where I could brush it on, out of most eye sight. Yeah, if someone sticks their head in my fender they might notice a few brush marks. Good luck.

the truck will not be a daily driver so i only cruise in the summer. and of course they salt the roads in winter ;-)

i took black and a similar "tough" paint like por15 because i already had the primer on the cab.

there are many inaccessible areas underfloor and when the paint is dry, i will use some special penetrating paint and grease to protect the cavities againt corrosion.

Many years ago in Detroit I learned this trick.

Mix STP with kerosene and using a small flexible tube, inject it into all the areas you can't easily reach. The kerosene will evaporate leaving a thin film of STP.

I'm not sure where you would find it, but "rustproofing" places use special equipment for doing this. It involves drilling small holes to access places like door pillars and then closing out the holes with plastic plugs.

May not be the way to go if you are a purist but if it prevents rust in places like the "rust belt" of the US it's worth considering.

Trust me,coming from the west coast of Scotland I'm familiar with rust!
I've used it on quite a few cars with good results.
It's used in a similar way to Woody's suggestion.
Stinks a bit for a few days after application but the smell soon goes away.
I'm not sure if you could find a stockist closer to home.

i know the product. it is much more expensive here. i think wax is suitable to protect again rust but it can not stop it permanently. i will use fluid film e.g. and afterwards wax or grease.

How are you "injecting" it? I'm envisioning you taking the tube, sucking in some fluid about half way, inserting it into the pillar and then blowing? I would like to do this to the pillars in my truck. Could even do that around the edges of the headliner and let it run down the sides? That concoction won't hurt the paint if it drips out the bottom will it?
