I have a 1950 216 all stock, the ignition coil I have seen mounted up and down, what is the stock position for the coil. Thanks

The wires on the coil should be facing down.

Many people mount them with the attachment posts up, for ease of attachment (and, I've heard people say, to avoid leaks)? If the coil leaks, replace it.

All documents that I have seen have had the attachment posts down.

Stock is down, but I did have my coil wire fall off once. But clearly because it was not fully pushed in, because it hasn't happened since.

Before I re-built the 216 the coil was facing down. After the re-build the coil would not fit facing down, so I had to flip it over. All I can figure is that I pushed the oil pump in too much, causing the distributor to raise up a little when I installed it.
