Just got my wipers to work so i can pass state inspection. Now I'm in need of wiper arms for a 51. No luck at the local parts stores. anybody know of a good cross for these?

What is the length of the blade?

Can you post a photo of the assembly?

Maybe someone has a link to a TRICO 51 Series catalog?

The truck currently has nothing but the nub on the motor sticking out of the cowl. I'm just trying to locate some quick to make the sherff dept. happy.

I'll snap a picture and post in a few

NAPA WIP601157 = a good blade number

OK I found locally a wiper teh brand is Trico and the part number is 73-302C it is an adjustable wiper and worked like a champ.

The vaccum is pretty weak and the motor would not drag the blade over a dry window, well during the state inspection i sprayed windex on the shield to show the Sheriff that they worked.

He called the main office downtown and then told me I would have to tool down there for my inspection.

On a different note, I found a mustang 2 front end for cheap complete with power rack, chevy pump and brakes.

What are your thoughts on scabbing in a mustang 2 to the old AD frame?

btw checking out american classic truck parts now.

Put some Rain-X on the windshield. It will decrease resistance a little.

Here is a photo of where to lubricate the motor/pump. (from Bob Adler)

For the long run, Ficken Wiper Service does a nice rebuild.

The paddle or piston is 99% of the wiper motor rebuild. There really isn't much else that can go wrong with them. If you’re careful you can get away without replacing the gaskets. I have been trying to find out what the material is that is used in the paddle. It isn't leather as I first suspected, it looks like some sort of woven fabric, and it appears to be impregnated with something like graphite??? If anyone has any information at all about this I'd sure like to hear it. Out of our 20,000 plus membership, there must be someone here that that could shed some light on this. There was a time when the rebuilding kits were available for the service station or garage to rebuild the wiper motors.
Although it has been suggested that the motor can be oiled thru the vent holes I'm just wondering what Ficken has to say about that? ATF squirted in the vacuum line is a popular fix I hear often, but that to me sounds only temporary. I do know that Ficken uses grease on the piston, because they told me that, and I believe that would be all the lubrication that is necessary until the next rebuild. If the grease has dried up then it’s probably time to disassemble and rebuild.
