I probably trimmed a 1/2 inch of each end. A little at a time, hopeing it would not be too much. The paint on the heater is Rustoleum Hammmered Bronze. It's not correct but I like it.

I was trying to figure out a way to smooth it out yet still have the hammered finish, just not as strong as straight from the can. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/116562622 Tried mixtures with different paints and thinning but still not happy.
