For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 24 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 24 | I have a 67 swb with factory over drive tranny. Where do I find parts such as the solenoid switch, governor and kick down switch?
Seems the stock rear axle ratio for a truck with this tranny is 4:11. Has any one changed it to a 3:73 or 3:42 and if so how did it work out? Most of the driving will be on the highway but I will also use it to creap around on the farm. It has a stock 283 ci. engine with RV cam. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 | The overdrive solenoid, governor and kickdown switch appear on ebay all the time. I am assuming you have the Warner od unit which is .73. 4.11 is a nice overdrive ratio. 3.90 is ok, but anything faster will run 100 mph down hill and die going up hill. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,154 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,154 | Google 5th avenue auto parts. They have some OD items. I have a an overdrive unit that need reconnecting but can't find anyone to do the job so its slow and go. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 | This is a good information to have http://webhubcentral.com/packard/maint_overdrive.htm It is actually a Packard site, but all the Borg Warner OD's work the same. I have been running overdrives 45 years and repairing them as needed. The wiring diagram applies to GM, Ford or Chrysler. Not only Packard.
