K-18C, model-CF 351, 1 1/2 Ton 248 engine is "stuck". It has been inop since 1963, reason unknown. The 248 Engine is serial no. 24821530. If the GMC is history I have a 1956 Chev 235 serial 3836848 (PG). Will I need an adapter? Will the bell housings, flywheel, clutch interchange?

It says, "...Its another story but the fronts and rears of every Chevy '6' are also the same as every GMC "small" '6' (228, '236, '248..." Any comments on advisability of the swap or further advice?

The 1956 235 has a 6 bolt flywheel. You need a flywheel from a 1954 or earlier 235 if you are going to retain the 6 volt starter. It needs to be from a 3/4 ton or larger for the flywheel to be drilled for the larger clutch. | | |
