About ready to see if my 1941 GMC C.O.E. K-18C, model-CF 351, 1 1/2 Ton 248 engine is "stuck". It has been inop since 1963, reason unknown. The 248 Engine is serial no. 24821530. If the GMC is history I have a 1956 Chev 235 serial 3836848 (PG). Will I need an adapter? Will the bell housings, flywheel, clutch interchange?

May have found my answer in Patrick's catalog. It says, "...Its another story but the fronts and rears of every Chevy '6' are also the same as every GMC "small" '6' (228, '236, '248..." Any comments on advisability of the swap or further advice?

The 1941 GMC has a 4 bolt flywheel to crankshaft mount. The 1956 235 has a 6 bolt flywheel. You need a flywheel from a 1954 or earlier 235 if you are going to retain the 6 volt starter. It needs to be from a 3/4 ton or larger for the flywheel to be drilled for the larger clutch.

I recently put a '55 235 into my 1940 GMC. I wrote up a few lessons learned here:
