Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 | I need some help identifying the purpose of a cutout in my '52 3/4 ton heater/defroster (arrow "A" in photo). Also, what's up with the exposed slats (arrow "B" in photo)? I'll have to look closer, maybe defrost outlet was moved??? Thanks all! Photo is here! Thank you! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | It looks like the outlet has been moved. Can you post a photo of a frontal view of the heater?

I'd be lookin for a new case! Bill | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 | Thanks red58. As long as I can get heat out of it, it doesn't matter to me what it looks like. I like warm feet too! | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 | been butchered fer sure Bill Bill, Talk about being butchered, check out what's on the other side of the firewall! "What would you call this???". | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | hahahahaha - I'd call it a 55-57 car heater fan and some very creative ducting - makes me think the heater is from a car as well, a make-do farmer who also liked warm feet iI wouldn't be suprised if the inside heater is a 55-57 car, not the right shape for any year truck heater I'm familiar with, but it does have similarities to the one that was in a 57 sedan I had unless you're planning on using the truck on the farm, I'd strip alla that stuff off, inside and out, and find a more correct heater, there's some that work quite well Bill | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 | ...I'd strip alla that stuff off, inside and out, and find a more correct heater, there's some that work quite well
Bill Suggestions please!!!!! Hey... I added another photo at the bottom of the page. Do you know what the lever that the arrow is pointing at is for? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | another cable connection, the clamp above the arrow point holds the cable housing, the peg is where the cable end loop connects .... there's yet another cable connect setup at the left side of that pic - those are both prolly from the original installation in whatever it came from, the car had some fresh air controls, and the air input ran along the inner fender from an opening at the front next to the rad - prolly the installer tried to copy the same arrangement with that 'custom ductwork'

The one on the left lets the air in from the blower, but the one on the right didn't have any effect. I'm thinking it might divert it past the heater core. | | |
